Gujarat Samachar Creates History by Launching India's First AI-Crafted Diwali Special Edition

For the first time in the history of Gujarati literature and news media, an AI-powered Diwali special edition has been crafted entirely by artificial intelligence. Gujarat Samachar, taking a pioneering step, has created a Diwali magazine with both text and images generated solely by AI.

This innovative approach to content creation is likely the first of its kind not only in Gujarati but potentially in all Indian languages.

Commitment to Innovation

In line with Gujarat Samachar’s commitment to consistently offer fresh, unique content to readers, the publication has utilized accessible, free AI tools rather than relying on professional-grade AI software. Every page of the magazine includes an explainer detailing how AI contributed to both the articles and the images. To maintain transparency, the magazine also lists the specific AI tools used for content generation, allowing readers to understand the process behind the creation.

Unaltered Content for Authentic AI Insight

Headlines, subheadings, and article structures have been left untouched from the original AI-generated versions. Minor adjustments, such as ensuring grammatical accuracy, were made only where absolutely necessary, comprising less than 1% of the overall content. This allows readers a pure glimpse into AI’s capability to produce natural-sounding language, even if some word repetitions are present.

AI Tools in Focus

For this special edition, Gujarat Samachar experimented with OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini for text creation. Meta’s Lima and Microsoft’s Copilot were also tested but ultimately not included due to limitations with Gujarati language support.

For images, English prompts were used due to limited support in Gujarati.

ChatGPT generated image prompts, which were then processed through tools like NightCafe, Freepik AI, and Bing AI to produce the magazine’s visual content.
